Composite Controllers
This is part of my PhD thesis work. It involves the
design and the composition of controllers for
everyday motions and stunts.
Using a 3D human model.
Falling, getting up and balancing in place.
1.5MB mpeg.
Doing the kip. Thanks to
Glenn Tsan and Joe Laszlo
for agreeing to compete with the...skeleton.
1.9MB avi.
Diving down the stairs. Yikes!
1MB mpeg.
Falling backward and to the left.
176K avi.
Double trouble.
200K quicktime.
Using a 2D human model.
Long sequence involving 11 controllers.
320x240 3.7 MB quicktime and
160x120 2MB quicktime.
Dynamic Animation and Controller Environment
An animation system designed and implemented by Victor Ng-Thow-Hing and
myself for physics-based animation
and control design. For more information follow
DANCE .
Here is an animation that has been created using DANCE and control
plug-ins
Flammingo and humming bird mpeg(1.18 Megs).
Dynamic Free-Form deformations
This animations have been created using hierarchical parameterized
free-from deformations as described in the paper
Dynamic Free-Form Deformations for Animation
Synthesis . They are all in mpeg format. A good way to
view them is using the XAnim movie player. You can down load
the xanim software from
The XAnim Home Page site.
Teapot performing a shuffling motion
mpeg (1.0 Mbytes).
Cartoon race between a teapot and champagne glass
mpeg (1.13 Mbytes).
The previous animation plus a flying apple
mpeg (383 kbytes).
Pulling a teapot from the lid (global and local deformations)
mpeg (0.61 Mbytes).
A flexible car with flexible wheels
mpeg (1.89 Mbytes).
A teapot hopping slowly
mpeg (1.32 Mbytes).
Faster hopping motion, automatically produced
by optimizing the previous one with
respect to distance and control energy.
mpeg (0.48 Mbytes).
Even faster hopping motion, automatically produced
by optimizing the slow one with
respect to distance only.
mpeg (0.79 Mbytes).
