DGP has strong showing at CHI 2024

DGP had a whopping 32 papers accepted to CHI 2024, the premier conference for human-computer interaction research. These papers spanned various topics including AR/VR interaction, health tracking, community support systems, algorithmic fairness, and yes, LLMs. You can find the full list of papers in this article.

Otman Benchekroun leads the first iteration of DGP Academy

Otman Benchekroun led the creation of the first DGP Academy, which offers high school students the opportunity to engage in hands-on computer graphics activities and get a comprehensive view of graduate studies. Students learned about topics ranging from 3D printing to linear algebra and calculus. Prof. Buxton appointed to the Order of Canada

Congratulations to Prof. Buxton, who has been appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada for his work in HCI and user-centred design! Prof. Buxton has been a member of the DGP since the early years of the group and has published and collaborated with students and faculty here in the decades since. Prof. Williams and students win XPRIZE Digital Learning Challenge

The Adaptive Experimentation Accelerator team, led by University of Toronto Assistant Professor Joseph Jay Williams, has won the $500,000 (USD) grand prize in the XPRIZE Digital Learning Challenge, a global competition to modernize, accelerate, and improve the identification of effective learning tools and processes. The team also includes graduate students Ilya MusabirovMohi RezaPan Chen, and Harsh Kumar, as well as collaborators from Carnegie Mellon University and North Carolina State University.
