To ensure fairness, I will clarify the lateness policy for "slightly late" assignments:
Late assignments are penalized up to 20% per day or portion thereof. This means that assignments that are one minute late might lose 20%. However, we will use the following penalties, which are more fair to "slightly late" assignments:
Lateness | Penalty | |
0 min - 20 min | 0 % | |
20 min - 50 min | 5 % | (before end of tutorial) |
50 min - 2 hr | 10 % | |
2 hr - 3 hr | 15 % | |
3 hr - 24 hr | 20 % | |
24 hr - 48 hr | 40 % | |
48 hr - 72 hr | 60 % | |
72 hr - 96 hr | 80 % | |
more than 96 hr | 100 % |
If you submit the assignment after tutorial, you must do so in my mailbox in SF4306D and you must GET SOMEONE IN THE LAB TO SIGN AND DATE YOUR ASSIGNMENT. If this is not done, I will have to assume that the assignment was handed in at the time I first saw it.
If I find that more than three percent of the class hands in during the first 20 minutes of tutorial, the penalty for the first twenty minutes will be changed to 5%. This is because the tutor should be devoting time to teaching and answering your questions, and should not not be interrupted. Please help to maintain the twenty minute grace period.
