Despite the various extra-curricular activities, I was able to do extremely well academically. After 5 years at U.N.B., I graduated with the highest cumulative grade point average and came away with 1st class honors in the B.Sc. Computer Science program with a major in Software Systems. I also earned two years of industry level work experience as an employee of IBM Canada Ltd., Bell-Northern Research Ltd., and the N.B. Dept. of Supply and Services through U.N.B.'s C.S. co-op program .
After a brief tour of Europe in the summer of 1994, I decided to do my M.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Toronto. From September of 1994 until October of 1996 my life centered around the research I was doing with Bill Buxton i.e. increasing media space accessibility and control.
Between October 1996 and January 5, 1997 I decided it was time for a break. As a result, I moved back to Fredericton to enjoy my mother's cooking, play my guitar, and spend some time with my friends. During this time I also started negotiations with companies regarding employment. The result of these negotiations was a 6 month contract as a Research Assistant at Xerox-PARC in California starting on January 6, 1997 and ending on June 30, 1997. Just in time for Canada day!!!!!!!!!
