An accomplished athlete in both Ice Hockey and Soccer, Karen is back with the Blues as head coach for her third season. Previously she assisted Dave McMaster with the Blues OWIAA Championship teams in 1991, 1992, and 1993. Karen assumed full control when Dave retired after a successful season in 1993.
As a Varsity student, Karen played on the Blues OWIAA championship teams in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, and 1990, and was selected team captain in 1986-87 and 1987-88. Her accomplishments in university soccer were even more impressive. Karen was recognized as a CIAU All-Canadian in 1987 (the first Varsity player to receive this honour), and OWIAA All-Star in 1985, 1986, and 1987. In her graduating year, Karen receive a coveted UofT Silver T for outstanding athletic performance.
In addition to her university accomplishments, Karen played ice hockey and soccer at the provincial and national levels. Prior to her university career, Karen was a player and an assistant coach of the talented Toronto Aeros teams which won four provincial hockey titles (1979-82). Between 1978 an 1990, Karen amassed 6 provincial titles an 2 national championships for club level soccer with Scarborough United an St. Andrews. In the summer of 1993, she coached the Scraborough United Rowdies to the Ontario women's club title. In 1994, Karen was an assistant coach witth the Ontario provincial women's under-17 Soccer team.
Karen is one of only five ice hockey coaches from across Canada to be selected to the Canadian Hockey Association's Women's National Team Coaching Pool. The players involved are the top 50 female ice hockey players in the country. She has been selected as an assistant coach at the Pacific Rim Tournament in 1996.
Karen has earne two degrees from the University of Toronto: a Bachelor of Commerce followed by a Master of Science in Community an Neighbourhood Planning. She received a UofT Connaught Masterss Scholarship and a Canada Mortage and Housing Corporation Graduate Scholarship. She is currently a policy adviser in the Housing Policy Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Diana has been an assistan coach on the Blues for the last four seasons, including two OWIAA championships. A Bacherlor of Science grauate of Victoria College, Diana played with the Blues for 6 seasons, winning 5 league championships. An outstanding defenseman, she was captain of the 1989-90 OWIAA championship team an assistant captain of Varsity's championsip teams in 1988-89 and 1991-92. For her efforts, Diana received the Jay Westlake Award, a team award for outstanding defenseman. She was a former member of the "AA" club team, Scarborough Sting. She also played ball hockey with the Toronto Dragons. The Dragons were silver medalists in 1992 and 1994, National Champions in 1991, and Provincial Champions in 1991, 1992, and 1993.
Diana has returned to U of T and is studying Toxicology. She is a native of Mississauga, where she starred in high school basketball, soccer and volleyball.
Barb, a Scarborough native, is in charge of Blues player personnel. Her job involves guiding young women to a future of Interuniversity ice hockey at the University of Toronto. The bulk of her coaching is off the ice, but it's not unusual to see Barb lace up a pair of skates. A UofT alumna, Barb graduated from the PHE program in 1985, and has been assisting the Blues ever since. During her undergraduate studies, Barb played defense on three OWIAA Championship teams, was named to the OWIAA All-Star Team, and received the Jay Westlake Award for outstanding defenseman. Barb is coaching a beginner's men's ice hockey team in the True North League in Central Toronto. In adddition to her coaching credential, Barb's contribution to the team is "a great cottage".
Sophie is returning for her third year with the Blues as an assistant coach. Sophie has proved herself not only as a coach but also as a player. This former captain played on 4 championship teams between 1980 and 1985 and again in 1987-88. An outstanding defenseman, Sophie was recognized as an OWIAA All-Star several times and also earned U of T's prestigious Silver T Award for outstandding athletic performance. Sophie is also an accomplished athlete in other sports. Still an active cyclist, Sophie competes in both road races and mountain bike events. In 1993 she was the Senior Women's Time Trial Road Racing Provincial Cycling Champion and also won UofT's Coventry Cup Squash Tournament.
A Beverly Vickers Award recipient from UofT's School of Physical and Health Education, Sophie earned a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education degree and then pursued a Master's in Business Administration from York University. Presently, she is a Project Manager for Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
Becky is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Blues. Last year she graduated from PHE and played her only season with the Blues. Becky was the team's leading scorer and an OWIAA All-Star. As a transfer student from the University of Western Ontario, Becky played Indoor an Outdoor Field Hockey team in 1986. In high school she was Athlete of the Year in grades 9, 10, and 11. She was a member off her school's volleyball, track, basketball, and flag football teams, and won 6 MVP awards. Becky played for the Varsity Raiders prior to joining the Blues.
Marc is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Toronto. He produces statistics for the Varsity Blues women's hockey team and for the women's COWHL league.

Winnie is returning for her second season with the Blues. Last year as a rookie she had the best goals-against-average in the league. A second-year student in PHE, Winnie played for the Sudbury Senior B's before joining the Blues. She is a graduate of Marymount College in Sudbury, where she was named the team's most valuable player. Winnie was the top goalie in the Provincial High School Hockey Classic for 2 years and the starting goalie for the 'AAA' ringette team that won the Ontario Winter Games two years in a row.

Keely is in her rookie season with the Blues. A graduate of Grand River Collegiate in Kitchener, she was named Athlete of the Year, and received several academic and athletic awards including a Memorial Scholarship, All-Star and MVP honours. She was the first girl to play on a boy's ice hockey team in the CWOSSA league. At the National level for Ringette, Keely was a member of the Gold Medal winners in 1992 and the Silver Medal winners in 1993. In 1993, she was ranked the top Ringette goalie in Canada for her age and is now ranked third in Ontario. Shw won Provincial championships for hockey, placed in softball and windsurfing. Her brother, Ian, is the top-ranked windsurfer in Canada, and is competing for a spot on the National Team for the 1996 Olympics. Keely's playing time in the early season has been limited because of injury. If she can stay healthy, she wil be a tough contender.

Tara is among the new recruits fighting for a starting position with the Blues. She is a first year PHE student from Seeley's Bay. Tara's previous playing experience includes 5 years with the Kingston Kodiaks, winners of two Gold and 3 Silver Medals in provincial tournaments.

A 3rd-year Commerce student, Elisa is in her first year with the Blues. Originally from Vancouver, Elisa spent two years at the University of Victoria, where she represented the University on the rowing team and competed at the National Level in the Henley Regatta. At Notre Dame Secondary School, Elisa was active in field hockey, soccer, skiing and badminton, winning numerous MVP honours and being named Athlete of the Year in 1991. She also competed at the Summer Games for field hockey with Halton. An injury early in the season may have limited her playing time, but it hasn't kept her off the ice.

Sherry is an alternate captain with the Blues. In her second year of a Master's degree in Speech Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Sherry is from Saint John, New Brunswick. She was captain of the Canada Games hockey team in 1991. Sherry played provincially for the Senior A New Brunswick team, competing in the Senior "AA" Women's National Hockey Championships in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995. Also, Sherry represented New Brunswick on the provincial Soccer teams in 1988, 1989, and 1990. A graduate of Saint John High School, Sherry received Female Athlete of the Year honours in 1989, 1990, and 1992, MVP awards in basketball, soccer, and hockey and Outstanding Student of the Year in grade 12.

Returning for her fourth year with Toronto, Ali is an alternate captain this season. She has been playing hockey since she was 8 years old, under her father's coaching and leadership. She played on the Ottawa-Nepean Raiders, winning the Provincial "A" title in 1990, placing 2nd in 1988, 1989, and 1991. At St.Pius X High School, Ali captained the touch football team in 1991 to the City Championships and also participated in volleyball, track and cross country.

In her fourth year with the Varsity team, she has played on 3 OWHA championship teams where she has earned 3 MVP awards plus 3 most sportsmanlike player awards. She is also a member of the Varsity Soccer Blues. She won 5 MVP awards in high school soccer and was Athlete of the Year. She received a 10,000$ Nicol Scholarship for academics, athletics and community involvment in Petrolia. She was an exchange student in Japan during the summer of 1990. Cathy was nominated Most Improved Player for the 1993-94 season with the Blues.

A second year Industrial Engineering student, Heather is returning to the Blues after a successful rookie season. A graduate of Lockerby Composite High School in Sudbury, she organized and captained the first ever Women's High School Ice Hockey team at Lockerby. Heather is very active in alpine skiing, track, and high school basketball and was a strong competitor in "AA" ringette across Canada.

Bridget is a graduate student, enrolled in the Master's program of Divinity. Bridget completed her undergraduate work at St.Jerome's College at the University of Waterloo. During her high school career, she earned hockey MVP awards in 1987 and 1989, in addition to the women's softball MVP in 1987. At the club level, Bridget played for the Kitchener Falcons. This year Bridget has taken on extra duties as Blues equipment manager.

Jeanette is a new addition to the Blues, in her first year of studies at St. Michael's College. Hailing from Wikwemikong, Ontario, Jeanette is an aboriginal (Odawa/Pottowatomi) of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve. She was instrumental in establishing the Wikwemikong Fallen Angels Senior D, the first women's hockey team in the region to register with the OWHA. Also, Jeanette was a top scorer for the Manitoulin Island Ringette League from 1986-1990. Aside from hockey, Jeanette has been active in slo-pitch softball throughout Northern Ontario since the age of twelve.

Back for her 3rd season with the Blues, Mary Beth was chosen as Blues 1993-94 Rookie of the Year and voted most Enthusiastic Player by her teammates in 1994-95. A graduate of Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, Saskatchewan, Mary Beth was voted Athlete of the Year and Soccer MVP. In addition, she was awarded the President's Cup for academic and athletic leadership within her school and the Murray Renaud Memorial Award for outstanding leadership within the community. Mary Beth also enjoys rugby, soccer, football and basketball.

Although Darlene is another new face to the Women's Hockey Blues, she is no stranger to UofT athletics. Prior to joining the Blues, Darlene played Varsity field hockey for four years, where she was an OWIAA First Team All-Star in 1994. Darlene was a member of the Provincial Field Hockey Team for 4 years, placing second at the Canada Summer Games in 1993 and was an Academic All-Canadian in 1993, 1994, and 1995. Active in numerous sports in high school, Darlene was recognized as MVP in badminton, field hockey, and received the Sportsmanship and Female Athlete of the Year awards.

A veteran of the Blues in her fifth season, Lori has an impressive record in her second year as team captain. In 1994-95 she was named to the OWIAA First Team All-Stars, second in league scoring and nominated for U of T Female Athlete of the Year Award. In 1993-94 she was an OWIAA Second Team All-Star. In 1992-93 Lori was an OWIAA First Team All-Star and the Blues Alternate Captain. In 1995 she was a member of Team Canada, winners of the Pacific Rim Tournament, and will participate again in 1996. She is part of the National Team Selection Pool for the 1997 World's and the 1998 Winter Olympics. A graduate of General Vanier S.S. in Cornwall, Lori competed at OFSAA Provincial Championships for each of her five years. She is a former member of the Cornwall Wolverines of the OWHA where she has played since age 10 winning Provincial "C" and "B" Championships.

A 2nd-year PHE student, Chris is returning to the Blues after a successful season. She is a graduate of North Toronto Collegiate, where she was an active participant in hockey, basketball, soccer, track and field, winning various MVP awards and several city championships. Prior to joining the Blues, Chris played club hockey with the Toronto Red Wings in the "AA" division under the direction of Karen Hughes. Chris was also a member of Gold Medal winning Team Ontario in the Under-18 National Championships in 1993.

Andria is a graduate student, enrolled in the Master's program of Computer Science. She completed her BSc from the University of new Hampshire, where she played on 2 ECAC championship teams. Voted most sportsmanlike Player in 1993-94, Andria is a four-time OWIAA First Team All-Star, recipient of the T-Holders Academic Excellence Award in 1991-92 and 1994. Andria won numerous athletic and academic awards at Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School in Peterborough. Andria's international experience includes playing for DHC Langenthal in Switzerland for the 1992-93 season, plus Team Canada's Gold Winning entries at the 1992 and 1994 Women's World Championships. Andria was the third highest overall scorer at the 1992 World Championships in Tampere, Finland. Aside from ice hockey, she was a member of the Toronto Dragons that won the ball hockey National Championships in 1991, and placed second in 1992 and 1994.

Liz, an alternate captain in her fourth season with the Blues, is also in her fourth year of Physical Education. A graduate of Earl of March High School in Kanata, Ontario, she played several years with the Ottawa-Nepean Raiders. Liz was named Rookie of the Year in the 1992-93 season. She was a member of the 1993 CIAU Champion University of Toronto field hockey team. She has also been a member of the Toronto rugby team for the last two years.

In her first season with the Blues, Jen is seeing a lot of ice time. A graduate of Sydenham High School in Kingston, she received the athletics/academics award. She played for the Kingston Kodiaks, competing at numerous provincial championships winning 4 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals. Jen was a member of the under-18 team at the Nationals, which won a Bronze medal, and the Ontario Winter Games team which won the Gold Medal. Aside from hockey, Jen played fastball, winning a Bronze medal at the 1993 All-Ontario's, placed 4th at the Provincial Soccer Championships, and twice advanced to the quarter finals for field hockey.

A first-year PHE student, Laura is a Scarborough native. Although only in her rookie season with the Varsity Blues, she has already accumulated international level playing experience. She attended Northeastern University on a full hockey scholarship and captained the team in her senior year. She played for Team Canada at the 1990 and 1992 World Championships and the 1995 Pacific Rim Tournament. Laura is among 30 players in the country to be selected to the CHA Women's National Team and was selected for the 1996 Pacific Rim Tournament.

A second year Mathematics student at Erindale, Sue Ann is returning for her second season with the Blues. A graduate of St.Mary's High School in Woodstock, she played basketball, tennis, and hockey, receiving MVP, MIP and All-Star honours. Sue Ann captained the 1991-92 midget and 1993-94 Intermediate "B" Provincial Champions. Between 1989-1994, Sue Ann was named MVP and Team captain every year, with Brantford.

Leanne is in her second season with the Blues. A graduate of Canterbury High School in Ottawa, Leanne competed in hockey, basketball, and was the Most Valuable Player on the water polo team. She brings provincial and national level playing experience. Prior to U of T, she played for the National Capital Raiders. A second year Physical and Health Education student, Leanne completed a Commerce degree at Carleton University before coming to Toronto.
